I'm from Thiruvalla, you fools!! Goddamn all of you. The moment you hear I'm from Kerala, you have to put me in the Kochi or Trivandrum bracket. And it is Thiruvananthapuram (haaa try saying it in a breath you Sabarimala visitor!)
I live 3 hours away from either of these so-called famous places. And why should I be living there anyway. It's not like the rest of the country where only the famous places are developed and the rest of the towns are a dirty heap of shanty villages.
I hate to explain where is Thiruvalla, because you will never know where it is. and when u name some obsure village in UP or Rajasthan or even in Andhra Pradesh, I do not ask you is that close to Lucknow or Jaipur or Hyderabad?? I have probably heard of it because I studied Geography when I was in school. That is unlike anyone of those who ask me is it close to Kochi or is it a village??
No! Thiruvalla is not a village. It is far too thriving for it to be cascaded into a list of villages. even villages in Kerala don't look like the villages elsewhere having just one community well and a lot of mud houses. All of us have a well in our backyards! People in our villages live better, if not richer!!. Wayanad is an exception, but it is still better than the Mahbubnagar of Andhra Pradesh!.
So quit asking me where is Thiruvalla, because you will never know and Stop bracketing it with Kochi or Trivandrum. Listen up, There are places like Thrissur, Munnar, Kollam, Alapuzha and Kottayam too in my state. Educated, smart people come out from these places as well! One such is Arundhati Roy — may be a privileged kid!
Get your history and geography right dudes!!
Yeah, Thiruvalla the cosmopolitan!
